"The Milliner" was made by Eva Gonzalès in 1882. The version of the work of art measures the size: 450 × 370 մմ. A pupil of Manet, Eva Gonzalès was one of the few women artists of the era who gained recognition. In treating a subject extensively explored by Manet, Degas, and Tissot at about the same time, Gonzalès alluded to the secondary occupation of many young working girls as prostitutes.
