Married to Maria Carolina Barbara Claudia von Tschoffen, born Puthon (1772-1847), he had four children with. It is believed that Mary of Tschoffen was the mysterious "Immortal Beloved" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Bernhard (d. 1802) of Tschoffen is a masterpiece created by the artist Friedrich Heinrich Füger in 1795. The artwork was made with the following size: 112 x 88 cm - frame: 129 x 107 x 9 cm.
